not anesthetically pleasing

I wanted to start off by saying the title of this blog entry is not a typo.  You'll see why.

So I went to the dentist last week, and once again, they recommended I get my wisdom teeth removed (even though they are asymptomatic).  I think it's just their way of taking all my money.  However, I began thinking that it may not be a terrible idea since I won't have adequate dental care while abroad.  I decided to talk to my dad about it since he recently got his wisdom teeth removed.  I wanted to see how long it took him to heal (in case it may be genetic).  It took him a loooong time to fully recover.  Red flag there.  I've been talking to other people who have had the same procedure, and their answers vary from a few weeks to a couple months in healing time. Another red flag.  And others have told me "if it isn't broken, don't fix it."  So, in the end, I've decided to not get the procedure done.

Well, here lies the problem.  My dentist recommended that I get them removed, and Peace Corps says I am required to get my wisdom teeth removed if it is recommended by a dentist.  Great.  So I've been emailing back and forth between the pre-service people and my screening nurse to see if I actually have to get them taken out since they are not even bothering me.  So, alas, I wait for a response, hoping the verdict is in my favor.

I have an appointment set up for April 18th, so hopefully things get figured out by then.  I'm just worried I won't fully heal by the time I leave, or complications will occur prohibiting me from leaving on time, or the upkeep of my "wounds" will be too stressful considering the resources I will have access too.
